us in the summer.
We’ve had a glorious, deliciously lazy summer. We spent a week in my hometown visiting Nana. The kids became mud-warriors and had to have an “outside bath” with Nana’s water hose in the back yard. We’re going to bed late, hanging out on the patio and roasting marshmallows on the grill until after dark. Then sleeping in until 9 or 10, snuggling in bed until we’re all hungry. We eat a quick breakfast and then they run outside to play, barefoot, messy-haired and still in their jammies. We put a swing on their favorite tree, a small but sturdy little dogwood that we’ve decorated with beads and bells and ribbons and named “the fairy tree”. They swing, laugh, argue, laugh, and swing on this tree. There is a patch of dirt that their feet have worn beneath the swing that I’m absolutely in love with. It is the most beautiful patch of dirt, and I’ve never been one for perfect grass anyway.
My little guy has become quite the avid fisherman. Earlier in the summer he caught a largemouth bass and now he’s hooked. ;)
I’ve not taken nearly enough pictures. It’s been ridiculously hot until just the past two weeks or so. But I did snap a few, to remember these sweet, golden days.
